Colombia - Resolution 51039 of 2026 Extends the Validity of Colombia’s Technical Metrology Regulation for Prepackaged Products

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC) has issued Resolution No. 51039 of 2026, extending for an additional four years the validity of Colombia’s technical metrology regulation for prepackaged products, originally established by Resolution No. 32209 of 2020.

​Following a mandatory review, SIC concluded that the regulation remains necessary to ensure that the quantity declared on product labels corresponds to the actual contents and to protect consumers against misleading practices. At the same time, the authority noted that certain provisions should be updated and more closely aligned with international standards.

The extension is intended to provide the authority with sufficient time to carry out a Regulatory Impact Assessment and to develop amendments aimed at improving the regulation, while preserving legal certainty for both businesses and consumers.
