Canada - Prohibits Wheel Weights Containing Lead

​​Minister of Environment and Climate Change announced the publication of the Prohibition of the Manufacture and Importation of Wheel Weights Containing Lead Regulations (SOR/2023-15).

​These Regulations would prohibit the manufacture and import of wheel weights containing more than 0.1% of lead in weight in Canada. Manufacturers and importers will have until February 3, 2024, to transition to safer alternatives, such as steel. The sale and installation of the remaining stock of lead wheel weights already in the market will be allowed after the effective date.​
