Brazil - Provides for the Sanitary Requirements Applicable to Regenerated Cellulose films Intended to Come into Contact with Food
This resolution governs the sanitary standards for regenerated cellulose films used in food contact applications, whether they are standalone products or part of composite materials. The regulations align with MERCOSUR Resolution No. 16 of July 1, 2025, incorporating it into national legislation.
Films made of non-recycled wood or cotton cellulose can be uncoated or coated (plastic or cellulose-derived coatings) and must meet strict manufacturing standards. However, synthetic cellulose casings are excluded, remaining governed by a separate regulation.
