Brazil - Ordinance No. 693, October 23, 2025
The National Institute of Metrology, Quality, and Technology (INMETRO) announced the prohibition of the manufacture, import, and sale of compact fluorescent lamps with integrated ballasts, electromagnetic ballasts for tubular fluorescent lamps, and electronic ballasts powered by alternating current for rectilinear, circular, and compact tubular fluorescent lamps.
The relevant Conformity Assessment Requirements and Technical Regulations, established under Ordinances No. 17 (2022), No. 500 (2021), and No. 78 (2021), will be revoked as of December 31, 2026. These ordinances will no longer be valid after that date, ensuring the gradual transition toward compliance with updated technical standards.
