Brazil - Inmetro Creates New Rules to Strengthen the Home Appliances and Electronics Industry in Brazil

​Brazil's Instituto Nacional de Metrologia, Qualidade e Tecnologia (Inmetro) introduced new rules through Portaria nº 223/2025, updating conformity assessment requirements for refrigerators and similar appliances, previously regulated by Portaria nº 332/2021. 

The key change is the inclusion of a specific energy consumption curve for refrigerators with built-in automatic ice makers and water/ice dispensers.
