Brazil - Draft Proposal for Simplification of Inmetro Product Registration Procedure

​Inmetro published the Decree 404/2019 with a draft proposal for a simplification of the Product Registration Process. The Inmetro registration is a pre-market requirement in order to sell products under Inmetro mandatory regulations.

It is open for public consultation for 60 days and replaces the current pre-market registration model for post-market registration. This means that the manufacturer will deliver all required documentation, now simplified, and Inmetro will issue the registration number. From that moment on, it will be able to market his product and can carry out all his planning, while the consumer will benefit from faster access to innovations. Registration will be suspended when there is any product insecurity or irregularity in the documentation presented.
