Brazil - Anatel Regulatory Updates
The Anatel (Brazilian National Telecommunication Agency) published the Act No. 17087, approving the technical requirements for electrical safety in the conformity assessment of telecommunications products.
This act is mandatory from December 27, 2023.
Act No. 950 (2018) is revoked on December 27, 2023.
The major change from Act No. 950 (2018) is item 11, which establishes requirements for markings and instructions that must be present on the product and in its user manual.
Anatel published Official Letter No. 429. This letter confirms the previous understanding between Anatel and the OCDs (TCBs) that test reports must comply with Act No. 4083 (2020), including its traceability requirements.
Act No. 4083 (2020) establishes that the applicant must formally communicate to the OCD before the start of the tests:
- the manufacturing unit where the sample was produced
- the traceability of the sample submitted for testing
