Brazil - Anatel Alternative Conformity Assessment Activities During the COVID-19 Epidemic

​The Anatel (Brazilian Telecom authority) issued the Official Communication No 134/2020/ORCN/SOR-ANATEL, amended by Official Communication No 157/2020/ORCN/SOR-ANATEL with specific instructions for the Designated Certification Bodies (OCD's) about alternative conformity assessment activities during the COVID-19 epidemic.

For the mandatory maintenance of Anatel certificates with expiration date between March 6th 2020 to June 30th 2020, the suppliers are exempted to present the following documents to the OCD's:
1) Product pictures;
2) Product maintenance tests;
3) Manufacturer ISO 9001 certificate (in case the current certificate is expired and recertification was not possible due to restrictions to perform the recertification Audit).

The suppliers have to prepare a declaration informing the OCD that documents mentioned above were not available due to the COVID-19 epidemic.

For Anatel new certification projects no alternative procedure is available. Therefore all documents required for a new project are not exempted.
