Azerbaijan - New Rules Have Been Approved to Ensure the Safety of Non-food Products
Azerbaijan Ministry of Economy announced new rules have been approved to ensure the safety of non-food products.
Within the framework of measures taken to establish and ensure the operation of the technical regulation system, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a number of rules.
The implementation of the new Rules will serve to ensure the protection of human life and health, the environment, property and the interests of the state, the protection of consumer rights and legitimate interests, the elimination of technical barriers to trade and increase the competitiveness of goods.
Under the new rules, a risk-based approach will be applied to ensure the safety of non-food products.
Entrepreneurs will be able to freely sell low- and medium-risk non-food products they produce or import by drawing up their own declarations of safety.
Non-food products belonging to the high risk group will be issued certificates after being inspected by accredited conformity assessment bodies.
According to the rules, the relevant agencies and entrepreneurs must submit information to the Ministry of Economy on the day of making a decision on the preparation of certificates of conformity or declarations.
Azerbaijan conformity mark may be affixed to technical documents and non-food products on the basis of certificates of conformity or declarations included in the register of the Ministry.
The Azerbaijan Conformity is presented with the letters AZC ("Azerbaijan Conformity").
