TÜV Rheinland Presents Haier Washing Machines, the World's First Oman Energy Efficiency Labelling Approval Certificate

Hong Kong | 18 April, 2024

TÜV Rheinland Hong Kong, an independent third-party testing, inspection, and certification organization, recently issued the world's first Omani Energy Efficiency Labelling Approval Certificate for Haier washing machines. This is a sign of TÜV Rheinland's leading position in international energy efficiency testing and certification.

As global energy resources become increasingly scarce, the importance of energy saving and emission reduction has become an international consensus. Manufacturers of energy-efficient appliances, particularly washing machines, play a crucial role in this endeavor. By improving the energy efficiency of washing machines, you are reducing energy consumption and household electricity costs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Your contribution to global environmental protection is invaluable, inspiring us to continue our work in this field. TÜV Rheinland tested Haier washing machines based on the Omani energy-efficiency standard OS 1651:2022. It proves the products meet Omani energy-efficiency requirements and demonstrates TÜV Rheinland's expertise in testing and certification.

In June 2023, the Directorate General of Standards and Metrology (DGSM) of the Sultanate of Oman issued the second phase of the Conformity Program Technical Regulations for energy efficiency labeling for electric washing machines, water heaters, refrigerators, and freezers. The regulation, which includes standards OS 1651:2022, OS 1652:2022, and OS 1653:2022, came into effect in December 2023, requiring all relevant products exported to Oman to be tested and certified to have energy efficiency performance that meets the requirements of the standards. From April 2024, relevant products must be registered in DGSM's official registration system. From June 8, 2026, all products manufactured, imported, or sold in Oman will be required to carry an energy efficiency label.

TÜV Rheinland, as one of the earliest designated Omani Energy Efficiency Notified Body, provides manufacturers with one-stop services for technical testing, regulatory consulting, registration, etc. TÜV Rheinland is also recognized as a conformity assessment body for Gulf G-mark, Oman Low Voltage appliances regulation, as well as the Bahrain Energy Efficiency Labeling. We aim to support manufacturers in navigating regulatory requirements and ensuring their products meet the necessary standards for export to the Middle East market.
