TÜV Rheinland Hong Kong Authorized by Oman’s DGSM as a Notified Body for Personal Electrical Transporters (Scooter)

TÜV Rheinland Hong Kong, an international independent third-party testing, inspection and certification organization, has been authorized by the Sultanate of Oman Directorate General for Standards and Metrology (DGSM) as a Notified Body under the Oman OM-SC conformity assessment scheme for Personal Electrical Transporters (Scooter). TÜV Rheinland Hong Kong Notified Body Number is 0007.

The Oman OM-SC scheme, introduced by DGSM, is a mandatory conformity assessment program for personal electric mobility devices. Under DGSM Administrative Decision No. (2) of 2025, the scheme covers seatless electric scooters, including models with detachable seats; hoverboards; electric unicycles; electric skateboards; and related accessories such as batteries, chargers and power adapters (HS Code: 950300100002). Through unified technical requirements and type assessments, the scheme is intended to ensure that electric scooters and related products entering the Omani market meet safety, quality and performance standards, helping protect consumers and public safety.

The scheme took effect January 1, 2026, and implementation began April 30, 2026. Manufacturers must apply to a DGSM-designated Notified Body for a Type Approval Certificate. Importers must issue a Declaration of Conformity for each shipment, and products must bear the Gulf Conformity Tracking Mark (GCTS) before being placed on the market. Certificates are valid for three years.
