TÜV Rheinland Awards ISO 14064-1 Organizational Greenhouse Gas Verification Certificate to Lotus Technology and Lotus Global Smart Factory”

Greater China | 11 June, 2024

Recently, TÜV Rheinland Greater China, an international independent third-party testing, inspection, and certification organization, awarded Lotus Technology Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "Lotus Technology") and the Lotus Global Smart Factory with the organizational level greenhouse gas verification (carbon verification) certificate based on the ISO 14064-1:2018 standard. The certification ceremony was attended by Yu Jianshan, General Manager of Technical Certification at Lotus Technology, and Fang Weimin, Vice President of Customized Services at TÜV Rheinland Greater China, among other representatives from both parties.

Lotus Technology has set a goal to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire value chain by 2038. Achieving this goal at the operational level presents a significant challenge for the company. In 2023, Lotus Technology expanded its greenhouse gas inventory to include upstream and downstream value chain activities such as transportation, supply chain, and product usage stages, ensuring comprehensive monitoring and control of emissions from the Lotus Global Smart Factory. The 2023 verification covered eight countries and a total of 103 sites, further expanding the scope compared to the 2022 inventory activities, better reflecting the greenhouse gas emissions status of Lotus Technology’s core value chain. Through this carbon verification, Lotus Technology thoroughly examined the carbon emissions across its supply chain, gaining a more comprehensive understanding of the environmental impact of its operations, thereby laying a solid foundation for more accurate future carbon emissions forecasting. Additionally, Lotus Technology has further improved its carbon emission data management, paving the way for more efficient carbon reduction efforts in the future.

Weimin Fang stated, “The global automotive industry is undergoing an unprecedented low-carbon transformation. To address climate change, more and more automakers are developing and producing electric and hybrid vehicles to reduce carbon emissions. TÜV Rheinland has profound technical expertise and global resources in the field of low-carbon and energy, which will help more companies committed to green and low-carbon transformation to plan comprehensively and promote global sustainable development together.”
