IWE Secures Triple Certification from TÜV Rheinland for Quality, Environment, Safety and Health

Taiwan | 29 April, 2024

Intercontinental Wind Energy Co., Ltd. (IWE) has obtained certification from TÜV Rheinland, the globally renowned independent certification body, for three international quality management systems - ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System), and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System). On April 29, Jennifer Wang, Executive Vice President of Asia-Pacific at TÜV Rheinland Taiwan, presented IWE Chairman Shih-ming Liao with the certificates to represent IWE’s conformity with international quality standards as well as its commitment to sustainability, environmental protection, and workplace safety.

IWE began planning for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 international certification in September last year to strengthen the competitiveness of local industries, workplace safety, and company quality culture. Personnel from 20 departments were mobilized for the effort and internal ISO auditor training was launched to ensure the conformity of all documents and processes. Document reviews and field audits were conducted in early December 2023 by experts from TÜV Rheinland, and certification was successfully granted in January 2024.

At the certificate presentation, IWE stated that as a homegrown supplier of offshore wind power infrastructure in Taiwan, its goal is to not only build high-quality products to international specifications but also to ensure compliance with international safety standards for employee working environments during the production process. This collaboration with TÜV Rheinland embodied IWE’s commitment to “expand from Taiwan into the global markets.”

According to TÜV Rheinland Taiwan’s Jennifer Wang, the obtaining of three management system certifications at the same time represents not only a major milestone for the company itself – the increased reliability and confidence it offers suppliers, partners, and customers further enhances IWE’s reputation and competitiveness in the market as well. At the same time, the integration of quality management, environmental management, and occupational health and safety management into a single comprehensive management system maximizes management efficiency and returns for the business. Unnecessary costs and waste are also reduced.
