TÜV Rheinland strengthens its leadership in mobility testing with the inauguration of an innovative, state-of-the-art laboratory dedicated to testing components and systems for vehicles and transport technologies.

Spanning approximately 400 square meters, the new mobility laboratory marks a significant milestone in TÜV Rheinland's strategic growth within the testing services sector. Designed to address the complex needs of the mobility industry, the facility offers advanced solutions for testing resistance to environmental conditions, vibration simulations, and ingress protection against dust and water penetration.

State-of-the-Art Equipment for Comprehensive Testing

The laboratory features a combination of next-generation technologies and enhanced existing systems, providing customers with a complete range of tailored testing solutions.

Key equipment includes:

• Dust Chamber IP6K: simulates dust penetration using Arizona dust (dimensions: 2m x 1m x h1m).
• Water Intrusion IPX9K: high-pressure (80-100 bar) and high-temperature tests (80 ± 5 °C) with a water flow of 14-16 l/min.
• Climatic Chamber (1000 liters): for extreme thermal tests, from -70°C to +180°C, with thermal cycles up to 10°C/min.
• Salt Spray Test Chamber: programmable for cyclic corrosion testing.
• Vibration Testing (force 74kN force): combined with climatic chamber (temperature and humidity), offering vibration and shock up to 200g and frequencies up to 2600 Hz.
• Walk-in Climatic Chamber: for large components, with advanced combined testing capabilities (dimensions: 2m x 2.5m x h2.5m).
• Car/Van Lifter: lifting capacity of up to 5.5 tons.
• Thermal Shock Chamber: rapid transitions between -70°C and +220°C for extreme thermal shock conditions.
• Walk-in Dust Chamber: dedicated to large components; dimensions 3.2m x 1.5m x h3.2m.

Additional equipment includes: climatic chambers (600 liters and 400 liters) supporting cycles between -40°C and +140°C, vibration testing (up to 9.8kN, 40g, and 2000 Hz), and rapid thermal shock testing with switching times under 30 seconds. This extensive range ensures TÜV Rheinland can meet diverse technical requirements with internationally compliant and reliable results.

A Comprehensive “One-Stop-Shop” Testing Solution

With the addition of the Environmental Laboratory and the EMC & Electrical Safety Laboratory, the mobility facility creates a complete "One-Stop-Shop" for vehicle and component manufacturers to conduct all necessary testing under one roof, aligning with international standards and OEM specifications.
