TÜV Rheinland Shines Spotlight on Industry Quality Services at 2nd CIIE

The 2nd China International Import Expo (CIIE) was held with great fanfare at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) on November 5, 2019. TÜV Rheinland Group, the leading international provider of testing, inspection, and certification services, released a number of white papers as well as all-new services and standards during the expo. Certificates were also presented to a number of companies in the e-commerce and automotive industry.

Enhancing Cooperation with Clients and Partners

A strategic cooperation agreement on fire alarm products was signed with the Shanghai Institute of Quality Inspection and Technical Research, while another agreement was signed with Zhejiang Jiuli Hi-Tech Metals Co., Ltd. for in-depth cooperation in areas such as the sharing of laboratory resources, certification of materials quality management systems, product inspection and testing, personnel development, and technical exchange.

Professional in Optical Health, Food Contact Materials, and Rail Transport

The Eye Safety of Laser Products White Paper was jointly issued on November 6 by TÜV Rheinland and Hesai Technology, the global leader in LIDAR products. The two parties also signed an agreement to cooperate on further studies into the safety analysis of LIDAR products. A handbook entitled How to Save Your Eyes in the Digital Age was also released by TÜV Rheinland and Eyesafe to provide the display industry with high-value solutions.

There are new market trends such as the sustainability initiative in packaging and FCMs. Marco Scialpi, Food Contact Material & Food Safety Global Business Development Head & Technical Senior Expert at TÜV Rheinland Group, gave a presentation on the topic “Global Food Contact Materials Compliance, Safety Challenges and Possible Solutions to Support Industry” on November 6. He suggested that the industry must move from a reactive to a proactive compliance approach.

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) continued to gather steam across Europe during the course of 2019. TÜV Rheinland took the opportunity offered by the expo to unveil the Rail White Paper - Europe Edition 2019. The white paper provides an in-depth analysis of the latest regulatory and technical requirements in the European railway market, and summarizes the access requirements for the railway markets of 32 European nations.

New Services and Standards to Help Businesses Realize Sustainability in Different Fields

A number of new services were announced by TÜV Rheinland during the expo aimed at helping businesses achieve compliance, reduce costs, improve performance, and realize sustainable development together. The one-stop service for nuclear energy safety provides customized solutions based on the relevant laws and regulations governing nuclear power plants, systems, and equipment from their management, inspection, radiation safety, and non-destructive testing to the closing and decommissioning of nuclear power stations.

At the same time, TÜV Rheinland's Zero Waste to Landfill certification service was formally revealed to the public. The six modules of waste traceability, source reduction, process management, end processing, risk control, and capability improvement come together to realize waste reduction, recycling, and compliance.

The "circular economy" concept has drawn increasing attention in recent years, and TÜV Rheinland introduced its biodegradation testing services to the industry during the expo.

In addition, TÜV Rheinland announced that it has partnered with the "Same Production Line, Same Standard, Same Quality" alliance for products to be exported and sold domestically to promote the "Three-Same" initiative to the industry. The first "Three-Same" standard targeted at consumer towel products was announced as well.

Supporting High Quality Products with WVTA and China-mark

Seven furniture products from J.ZAO, the lifestyle brand subordinated to JD, were presented with the TÜV Rheinland China-mark certificates during the expo. TÜV Rheinland was able to assist J.ZAO in maintaining its quality control and fulfilling its commitment to consumers through the certification process. EU Whole Vehicle Type-Approval (WVTA) was presented for the European edition of Aiway's U5 electric vehicle by TÜV Rheinland as well. WVTA is based on the EU whole vehicle type-approval framework, and only certified vehicle products can be sold in the European market.

25 Years of Experience in Guangdong and Support for Greater Bay Infrastructure Development

Frank Holzmann, Global Head of Operations of TÜV Rheinland Business Stream Products, Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Greater China, was invited to attend the "Symposium on the Greater Bay Area Economic Cooperation and Bay Area Economic Cooperation and Development Seminar" hosted during the expo. TÜV Rheinland has increased its capability development and investments in a number of fields to provide the high-tech, innovation, and advanced manufacturing industries in the Macau-Hong Kong-Guangdong Greater Bay Area with the full range of professional services on standardization, technology R&D, talent development, inspection and testing, and international certification.
