TÜV Rheinland Issues Mongolia’s First ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System Certificate to Milko

Recently, Milko LLC (hereinafter referred to as Milko) has passed ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System Certification by TÜV Rheinland Group (hereinafter referred to as TÜV Rheinland), an international leading third-party testing, inspection, and certification organization, and has been awarded Mongolia’s first ISO 50001 certificate.

Milko is a subsidiary of TESO Corporation, a leading food, dairy, and beverage products group in Mongolia. Founded in 2009, it is best known among local consumers for producing milk with a fat content of 4%, rich in butter, that is suitable for making Mongolian traditional milk tea. In addition to covering the Mongolian market, Milko’s products are also exported to international markets.

As the Paris Agreement officially enters into force, it has become the responsibility of member states to actively reduce carbon emissions. In recent years, Mongolia has valued energy conservation and improvement of energy efficiency. In 2017 the country rolled out the National Energy Efficiency Action Program (2018-2022), requiring key energy users to assume corresponding responsibilities for energy saving and emissions reduction. As a voluntary international standard management system, ISO 50001 helps enterprises manage energy in a systematic and efficient manner, thus reducing their impact on climate change. The new version of ISO 50001, released by the International Standardization Organization (ISO) in 2018, has become a development target for numerous enterprises as a leading standard for energy efficiency improvement, energy consumption reduction, and the agenda of global climate change.

At the certificate presentation ceremony, Erdenesukh.M, Chief Executive Officer of Milko, stated that “We are an environment-friendly enterprise,” adding that “thanks to the recommendation of OBSERVE Consulting, we have teamed up with TÜV Rheinland and finally passed the ISO 50001:2018 certification audit. In the future, we will further deepen communication and cooperation on other management systems.” OBSERVE Consulting is a partner of TÜV Rheinland in Mongolia. The two parties are jointly expanding the market for management system certification in the country, and promoting the development of management system certification there.

Jiang Zhu, Senior Manager of TÜV Rheinland Greater China Systems, said that the energy management system certification conveys Milko’s commitment to sustainable development and showcases its responsible corporate image. By virtue of its professional services, TÜV Rheinland has long been committed to helping enterprises improve energy management, control the risk of energy saving and environmental protection in business, and enhance their competitiveness. In particular, with the promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), TÜV Rheinland is actively expanding business cooperation in the countries and areas along the “Belt and Road.”

In addition to ISO 50001 energy management system certification, TÜV Rheinland is able to provide governments and enterprises with professional solutions, including third-party audits and gap analysis, and services, such as ISO 14064 greenhouse gas inventory, carbon inventory, carbon verification, energy audit, energy saving diagnosis, energy efficiency testing, product carbon footprint declarations, full life cycle analysis (LCA), supply chain energy management, energy efficiency opportunity identification, and energy efficiency improvement.
