Corona pandemic - Information for Customers of TÜV Rheinland Market Access Services

TÜV Rheinland Remote will continue to enable your global market access

In the current situation, local certification bodies, authorities and partners are facing lockdowns, travel restrictions or home office environments. Accordingly, approval projects for local markets may face delays. For various target markets, however, flexibility and facilitations in project handling aim to compensate for delays and restrictions. See following examples:

Brazil (ANATEL) Periodic maintenance of ANATEL telecommunication licenses with a validity within the period of March 6th to June 30th, 2020, does not require any documents - except for the manufacturers declaration.
Brazil (INMETRO)Ordinance No. 111 of March 27th, 2020, grants facilities to local Certification Bodies in operating conformity assessment programs. The provisions apply from January 1st to June 30th, 2020. In particular, a risk assessment analysis may substitute a required Factory Inspection, Customer Complaint Service (CCS) or testing, under certain conditions.
ChinaFrom March 20th, 2020, on, Certification Body CQC issues a corresponding E-certificate together with the paper certificate. Same applies to the renewal of certificates after expiration or in case of certificate changes.
E-certification covers the certificate, possible attachements and the 'statement of change' and is relevant e.g. for the voluntary CQC Mark as well as for Energy and Water Saving certification.
IndonesiaSDPPI offices are closed, while online applications are still possible. Temporary certificates are issued electronic, substituting the regular certificates.
MalaysiaSIRIM has decided to suspend all on-site audits (surveillance and recertification) that have been scheduled after 28th April 2020. Remote audits may be offered in case the outbreak situation does not improve.
PeruDecree No. 11/2020 extends the deadline for implementation of mandatory Energy Efficiency regulations for specific products to September 1st, 2020. E.g.: Refrigeration equipment, Washing machines, Tumble Dryers, Air Conditioners
Russia (Eurasian Economic Union)Local Certification Bodies are permitted to reschedule due inspections by 6 months in case of travel bans; recommendations for implementing remote inspection are under development. Expiring certificates may be temporarily renewed.
Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Egypt, KuwaitRemote inspections are permitted as part of ‘Programmes for Verification of Conformity (PVoC)’
UgandaUnder specific conditions, remote inspections are permitted as part of the local ‘Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC)’

Local restrictions and limitations due to the pandemic situation might gradually change (as they base on government decisions in most cases). Therefore, the status of your international approval project should be enquired with your dedicated TÜV Rheinland expert. In cooperation with our partners, we do our utmost to manage the stipulated time lines. Procedural reliefs (see above) will be applied wherever useful.
