HSE Trainings - TÜV Rheinland Academy

Competence development in HSE made easy

Every year there are around 313 million deaths at work worldwide. Approximately 70 percent of these could be avoided if companies complied with international and local regulations on HSE (Health Safety Environment), the protection of people and the environment at work.

There is often a lack of knowledge about how to prevent occupational accidents and to avoid work-related health risks, for example, when working from great heights, operating large machines, or handling or transporting toxic substances. Companies may also need assistance in designing ergonomic workplaces or avoiding typical stumbling blocks in administrative offices.

We offer tailored HSE trainings to meet the needs of global players with locations worldwide. Our diverse range of courses includes not only HSE basics, but also industry-specific topics from the construction industry, such as working from great heights, the automotive sector such as safe working at production facilities as well as in maintenance, the oil & gas industry, such as the safety of hydrocarbon processes, fire protection and emergency process management, or electro mobility, with work on high-voltage systems.

Any questions, or would you prefer to book now? We would be happy to advise you on your specific needs.

Energy Management Trainings

Energy management involves the strategic planning and operation of energy generation and consumption units in an organization. The objectives include conserving energy resources and the climate, monitoring and reducing consumption costs, and ensuring the general energy needs of users.

ISO 50001 is the globally valid management standard that supports companies precisely in these goals and describes the requirements for introducing, implementing and improving an energy management system (EnMS). The advantages lie in the systematic evaluation of energy flows and energy consumption and the continuous improvement of energy efficiency based on comprehensible key figures.

TÜV Rheinland Academy offers courses on energy management systems at three levels:

  • Level 1:
Training courses to acquire the basics as Energy Management Officer and Manager.
  • Level 2:
Courses leading to a qualification of an Energy Management Officer to be in a position to introduce an energy management system in a company in accordance with the ISO 50001:2018 standard.
  • Level 3:
Courses leading to the qualification of an Energy Auditor, who is capable of assessing an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001 and certifying it for compliance with the standard.

In addition, the courses from Level 2 and 3 can be completed with a personnel certification. The certificates are listed on the globally accessible internet platform Certipedia.

Occupational Health and Safety Management Trainings

Every day, 6,000 people die as a result of an occupational accident or illness caused by their working conditions. Every accident at work, every early retirement due to a work-related disability is a human tragedy, but also a loss in both economic and business terms. Experts in occupational health and safety believe that 30 to 40 percent of lost working hours can be avoided through efficient occupational health and safety management (OH&S).

The international standard for occupational health and safety management, ISO 45001, defines the requirements for ensuring and systematically improving occupational health and safety in the workplace. Companies that want to manage occupational health and safety in compliance with the standard must record the risks and opportunities for improving occupational health and safety in a separate process and manage them accordingly.

The focus is on hazard identification in the workplace, including general and production-related hazards, as well as organizational and social aspects such as workload, working hours, leadership and corporate culture.

TÜV Rheinland Academy offers training courses on all aspects of occupational health and safety management (OH&S) at three entry levels:

  • Level 1:
Training courses to develop the basics of occupational health and safety management in accordance with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO/PAS 45005.
  • Level 2:
Training courses leading to the qualification of an Occupational Health and Safety Management Representative, to be in a position to introduce an occupational health and safety management system (OH&SMS) in his or her company in accordance with ISO 45001 and to take account of the guidelines set out in ISO/PAS 45005.
  • Level 3:
Courses leading to the internationally recognized IRCA OH&S Management System Lead Auditor qualification, who is technically and legally capable of evaluating an occupational health and safety management system in accordance with ISO 45001 and the guidelines in accordance with ISO/PAS 45005 and certifying it for conformity with the standard.

All levels build on each other, levels 2 and 3 conclude with a personal certification. The certificates are listed on the globally accessible Internet platform certipedia.

NEBOSH and IOSH Trainings

NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) is a non-profit body in the UK that recognizes qualifications in occupational health and safety and environmental protection according to the nationally and internationally established NEBOSH standard. Annually, approximately 50,000 candidates are examined to NEBOSH standard by more than 600 recognized NEBOSH education providers in more than 110 countries worldwide.

The international NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health is equivalent to the technical safety qualification required to work as an occupational safety specialist. This qualification is suitable for anyone who has responsibility for occupational safety and health in organizations or the public sector, i.e. occupational safety and health officers, managers, public sector employees or HR managers.

TÜV Rheinland Academy offers training courses to acquire the NEBOSH certification. The aim of the seminars is to provide an enhanced understanding of the cross-industry requirements of occupational safety and health in the workplace, as well as the competence to effectively implement appropriate measures. Industry-specific qualifications are also possible.

A minimum standard of English proficiency equivalent to Level 6 of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test is recommended in order to cope optimally with the course.

The course concludes with the internationally recognized NEBOSH personal certification.

Crisis Management & Business Continuity Trainings

Whether natural disaster, cyber-attack, blackout or pandemic: unforeseen events can disrupt or even paralyze production and business processes to a considerable extent. The probability of such crises and risks is constantly increasing. The main reasons are increasingly IT-based operations, ongoing internationalization with outsourcing, outtasking and integration of numerous partners around the globe. The problem: Neither public authorities nor companies can really afford disruptions or an interruption in operations today. At stake are production and value creation, reputation and brand protection, compliance or even the safety of life and health.

Effective business continuity management (BCM) can professionally manage the impact of unforeseen events. ISO 22301, the international standard for BCM, defines the requirements that succeed in securing business continuity in organizations - regardless of massive external influences. If a company or organization is certified to ISO 22301, it can demonstrate that it has implemented a crisis management system that proactively protects against incidents, reduces the likelihood of these events, minimizes the impact of incidents, minimizes downtime and recovery time, and ensures that the company recovers from the incident.

Around the topic of operational crisis management and ISO 22301, TÜV Rheinland Academy offers training courses in which prospective BCM Managers learn to identify existential risks to vital company processes at an early stage and to implement effective countermeasures.

EVHV Electrical Safety High Voltage Trainings

The market for electric vehicles is booming. While general car sales have dropped worldwide since the pandemic, electric vehicles are experiencing a massive boom due to their low energy consumption and falling prices. With the rapid growth of the electric vehicle market, new demands are being placed on automotive workshops and mechanics. This is because maintenance and repair of electric vehicles involve an increased risk of accidents or damage. There are also special risks associated with the recovery of electric vehicles that have been involved in accidents. Depending on the accident situation, the vehicle type may not be immediately recognizable. Safety and rescue forces such as police and fire departments as well as towing services, car recyclers or recycling companies must know and comply with the necessary safety rules for handling such vehicles in order to exclude hazards.

Because specialists in the recovery, maintenance and repair of electric and hybrid vehicles will be in greater demand than ever in the future, TÜV Rheinland Academy has launched a comprehensive training program for e-mobility technicians in the automotive sector.

The courses, which build on each other from Level 1 to Level 3, introduce technical personnel from the automotive industry to the safe maintenance and repair of electric and hybrid vehicles in both theory and practice.

Levels 2 and 3 each conclude with a personal certification ("High Voltage Electric Vehicle Safety Technician" and "Expert Technician in the Installation and Handling of High Voltage Electric Vehicles".
