The development of wind power in India began in the 1990s, and has significantly increased over the past five years. Global energy trends are changing, increasing the demand for renewable energy sources. Due to its rapidly developing and expanding renewable energy market, India represents the fifth largest wind power market in the world.
In the late 2000s, several main actors in the wind energy sector realized the great potential that was the Indian wind energy market. To strengthen the company's manufacturing base in India, one of the leading Spanish wind turbine manufacturers announced a large investment throughout 2012 to open three new manufacturing facilities for wind turbines, towers and blades.
