For a wind farm in Aschersleben, Germany, Energiequelle GmbH required independent verification of the electrical characteristics in compliance with the German grid code for high voltage connection levels. That is why FGH, a cooperation partner of TÜV Rheinland, was the right choice for the project, due to its
expertise in grid code compliance testing
and integration of dispersed power generation units into power grids.
Energiequelle GmbH is an operating company that plans and erects wind farms,

, photovoltaic plants and electrical distribution substations in Germany and Europe. The company is also engaged in grid connection services for private and public power grids. Since the adoption of the German System Service Ordinance by Wind Energy Plants in 2009 it has become mandatory that wind turbines and wind farms connected to the German medium or high voltage system fulfill the advanced requirements of the corresponding grid codes. An independent and accredited third-party is required by law to verify compliance and provide
certification. - L0
Following a ninety-year tradition as the leading research association of Germany‘s electric power utilities and industry, FGH provides a full range of services for the integration of dispersed power generation units into the power grids. The FGH Certification Office, accredited for grid code compliance proofing, provides unit as well as project certificates for national and international grid codes.
An experienced partner like FGH enables TÜV Rheinland to offer clients a full-service one-stop shop solution for all wind energy projects.
About TÜV Rheinland:
Founded 140 years ago, TÜV Rheinland is a global leader in independent inspection services, ensuring quality and safety for people, the environment, and technology in nearly all aspects of life.
We inspect technical equipment, products and services, oversee projects and help to shape processes for companies around the world. Since 2006 we have been a member of the United Nations Global Compact to promote sustainability and combat corruption.
For the wind energy sector we provide a comprehensive service portfolio, covering every aspect of wind energy projects – from site selection, design and manufacturing support to dismantling plants.
The main service provided in the project was verification of fulfillment of German grid code requirements as they apply to wind power plants connected to the high voltage transmission grid. The assessment of the wind farm’s characteristics principally involved load flow calculations resulting from simulations and dynamic stability analyses.
FGH carried out an assessment of the switching conditions, the protection devices and the system behavior of the plant under fault conditions. Further evaluation work involved determination of the current rating of power equipment and production facilities as well as the requirements for the construction and structure. The reactive power capability, system perturbations and active power reduction, including power management were also checked and all requirements were fulfilled.
