As an international service group, we want to create a working environment in which all our employees feel safe and comfortable - an environment in which they are happy to give their best with commitment. The key to this lies in open, respectful cooperation across all countries, cultures and lifestyles. After all, around 20,000 employees at 500 locations around the globe provide more than 2,500 services.
The results of their work can be discovered everywhere: in tested elevators or rides, on certified toys or technical equipment, in our advice or training. No matter where - our international teams have been setting standards in terms of safety, quality and efficiency for many years.
Our specialists appreciate this versatile portfolio, the exciting tasks and the value of their work for people, the environment and technology. And we value our specialists for their know-how and commitment, but also for their different personalities and careers. Combined with the professionalism and sense of responsibility of each individual, we create a culture characterised by openness, growth and collegiality.
We want to further strengthen this culture and consistently promote respect in our dealings with one another. We don't just say that, we live it. We have committed ourselves to act in accordance with the principles of the UN Global Compact initiative, to fight corruption and to promote human rights, labor standards and environmental protection in our daily work. We are active in numerous networks and projects that stand for diversity and equality. In addition, we have developed a wide range of products and services designed to bring the world of work and life into harmony so that our employees can work in a healthy, motivated and optimal environment.
The Diversity Charter was launched in December 2006 to promote the recognition, appreciation and inclusion of diversity in the world of work in Germany. Almost 3,000 companies and institutions with a total of 10.4 million employees have now signed the charter.
As a signatory, TÜV Rheinland also supports the goals of this corporate initiative, which is committed to an open-minded, respectful cooperation at the workplace. We are committed to ensuring that diversity is preserved, promoted and valued throughout the company - regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age, sexual orientation and identity.
In order to promote the exchange on diversity and inclusion, we have joined forces with companies from the Rhine-Ruhr region and established a joint network: the Rhine-Ruhr Diversity Network. Once a year, participating companies organise the Diversity Day, which has been held annually since 2013.
Members of the Rhine-Ruhr Diversity Network include TÜV Rheinland, Bayer, Deutsche Post DHL, E.ON, Ford-Werke, Henkel, HP, METRO GROUP, RWE and Vodafone. All member companies in the Rhine-Ruhr region employ a total of around 175,000 employees from almost 100 nations.
Networks play a crucial role in career development. The aim of our Women's Network initiative is to support and promote the careers of women in particular at TÜV Rheinland in the best possible way. We have established special offers at several locations that invite female employees to exchange ideas and provide impulses for professional development, such as ladies lunches and business meetings, but also seminars, mentoring programs and collegial coaching.
Women's Network - a selection of offers:
• TAFF: The idea of the TAFF mentoring programme is to interest and prepare women at TÜV Rheinland for specialist and management careers.
• women@TÜVRheinland: The women@TÜVRheinland seminar series deals with topics such as implementation strategies, self-empowerment, corporate visibility and negotiation skills.
• Girls' Day: Every year at Girls' Day we offer boys and girls the opportunity to look at technical professions and reduce prejudices.
• Come on, do MINT: We are a member of the National Pact for Women in Mint Professions.
• Shaping change - for women and men is a network that is committed to equal opportunities for women and men, even in top positions.
• We also cooperate with the European Women's Management Development International Network EWMD.
Whether starting a family or caring for relatives - we support our employees to the best of our ability in reconciling the company requirements with the family requirements. Our services include flexible working hours and part-time models, home office regulations and childcare facilities.
We also provide our employees with comprehensive advice and information, for example on parental leave management, childcare and costs, and flexible working hours. Even in exceptional family situations, we ensure secure child care via the nationwide pme family service, for example if the daycare mother drops out, goes on strike in the kindergarten or a family member has to go to hospital.
We take care to promote and maintain the health of our employees holistically. To this end, we have developed a programme that focuses on preventive measures in three areas:
1. Exercise and fitness
2. Healthy nutrition
3. Information and health care
In addition to sports and exercise activities for beginners, we offer regular health campaigns, including an annual flu vaccination, energy massages during lunch break, stress management seminars and addiction prevention training.
A good work-life balance makes an important contribution to physical and mental health. We support our employees in balancing their professional requirements and private needs.
We offer our employees a healthy work-life balance:

All employees should be respected and valued equally.
Komm, mach MINT.– Come make MINT - the National Pact for Women in MINT Careers aims to inspire young women to study science and technology. TÜV Rheinland is also currently supporting this objective with a wide range of activities and measures.
As part of its commitment to the integration of refugees, TÜV Rheinland supports the "We together" initiative. Under the umbrella of "We together", the integration initiatives of German industry are brought together on a common platform. This provides an overview of the measures already implemented and acknowledges the commitment of the employees of the participating companies.
