Duties

Responsible for completing all aspects of regulatory compliance testing and reporting on client products within the Automotive Industry (Vehicle & Components).

The Test Engineer, Homologation will perform EC/ECE regulatory approval tests. In addition, experience completing factory inspections and conformity of production audits is a plus.

This role is based from our Plymouth, Michigan location, and will require domestic as well as occasional international travel to client sites/client testing facilities.
  • Witness testing in accordance with EC/ECE regulation and directives.
  • Complete Factory Inspections and Conformity of Production audits based upon ISO 9001.
  • Develop test strategies and test plans to verify standards and performance. Interpret and apply applicable test standards.
  • Generate test reports and review customer documentation.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationship with customers.
  • Participate in and promote process improvements.
  • Liaise with other global TUVR team members to ensure consistency and accuracy of methods and interpretations.
  • Maintain understanding of regulations/regulation changes; keep current with regulatory requirements and legislative changes.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering preferred. Alternately, a minimum of 5 years of related engineering job experience acceptable.
  • A minimum of 10 years directly related professional experience in testing, validation or design within the Automotive Industry (vehicle and components).
  • Regulatory requirements/testing experience against US DoT, EC/ECE standards.
  • Microsoft Office. Computer Aided Design(CAD) knowledge a plus.
  • ISO 9001 experience and certification a plus.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge, existing understanding of testing/calibration processes.
  • Analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills (technical writing specifically) required; fluency required, German a plus. Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers.
  • Knowledge of US and international (European) regulatory standards and approval processes a plus.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks while meeting or exceeding deadlines.
  • 50% travel will be required to US and international client sites (occasional).
