Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plan

What could possibly be wrong? Why would it be wrong? How can we control?

Those questions are the triggers to use Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (FMEA) methodology. FMEA has always been an effective tool to prevent any technical issues of product design and manufacturing process design. Some automotive associations around the world had developed various methodologies to implement FMEA. Among them, Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) in USA and Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA) in Germany, are the most recognized ones. By 3rd of June, 2019, AIAG and VDA have harmonized their previous regional FMEA manuals into a single document. The new AIAG & VDA FMEA Handbook, 1st Edition promotes the utility of a process-oriented methodology to help suppliers meet the product performance requirements of global automakers. The most noticeable change in the AIAG & VDA FMEA Handbook is a new 7-Step approach for FMEA development, which provides a framework for documenting technical risks in a precise, relevant manner.
