11-29-22Greater China

Recently, TÜV Rheinland Greater China (TÜV Rheinland), an international independent third-party testing, inspection and certification organization, issued a ZDHC MRSL Level 3 Certificate of Conformity for Henkel Chemical Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (Henkel) footwear adhesive chemicals, including cleaning agents, treating agents, adhesives, and supporting curing agents. Chen Ziqi, Greater China Sales Director of Henkel Adhesive Sports and Fashion Business Unit, Fang Jun, Senior Sales Manager, Mickey Yu, Global Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Softlines, Wice Wang, General Manager of Greater China Softlines, and Ellen Zhang, Area Sales Manager, attended the certificate awarding ceremony.

Sustainable fashion has become the consensus of practitioners in the global apparel industry. Concepts of development and industry practices, on the supply and the consumer side, all show the transformation of green fashion, with green raw materials, green design, green production, green marketing and green consumption as the starting point for green product full life cycle management, and continued promotion of whole industrial chain manufacturing development to be efficient, clean, low-carbon, and recyclable. Against this background, the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) was established to reduce industry's chemical footprint.

The Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL) formulated by the ZDHC is a list of chemical substances prohibited from being intentionally used in the processing of textile materials, leather, rubber, foam, and adhesives in the textile, apparel, and footwear industries. It is used to manage the use of these chemical substances by suppliers and eliminate these hazardous substances in the production process. ZDHC MRSL compliance certification is divided into three levels: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3, according to different review methods and degrees. The higher the level, the higher the reliability of the chemical to continuously meet and comply with the ZDHC MRSL.

At the awarding ceremony, Chen Ziqi said: "Sustainable development is the core element of Henkel's future vision. This time, achieving ZDHC MRSL Level 3 with TÜV Rheinland is the best proof of our commitment to protecting the environment and the health and safety of consumers and workers. It is also a recognition and encouragement for our persistent efforts to promote social and economic transformation in a sustainable direction."

Mickey Yu said: "As a global leading company in the field of applied chemistry, Henkel has obtained the highest level of compliance certification with ZDHC MRSL Level 3 this time, which reflects its high sense of social responsibility and the exemplary role it has played in promoting the sustainable development of the textile industry. We look forward to further strengthening cooperation between the two parties in the future, promoting greater awareness of the production of restricted substances with more brands and manufacturers, and helping the world achieve the goal of zero emissions of harmful chemicals."

TÜV Rheinland has nearly ten years of experience in actively promoting good chemical management. It is one of the first third-party organizations in the world to obtain full-level ZDHC MRSL authorization and is approved to provide ZDHC MRSL 2.0 full-level testing and certification services. Chemical formulations certified by TÜV Rheinland can be registered and listed in the Chemical Module of ZDHC Gateway.
