TCC Global Wins Sustainability Endorsement with Green Product Mark Certification from TÜV Rheinland Group

TÜV Rheinland Group delivered certification for theGreen Product Mark to TCC Global for its latest "UNBEELIEVABLES" series plush toy. This UNBEELIEVABLES plush features 96% recycled content (average), and was assessed by TÜV Rheinland Hong Kong Ltd. TCC Global is the first company in the world to receive the mark for toy products.

Among consumers and businesses, increasing attention is being paid to ethics and moral values. This translates into purchasing decisions framed by concerns about the environment, sustainability, animal welfare, production, and labour practices, as well as desires to positively impact communities and people. Meeting these standards is no longer optional for companies and brands. The central idea for the TÜV Rheinland Green Product Mark guides consumer to identify and buy safe and sustainable products. The mark is applicable to a wide variety of consumer products, such as toys, visual displays, infocom and peripherals equipment, household appliances, leisure and sports equipment, furniture, and other items, covering all aspects of human life.

The requirements for the Green Product Mark for plush toys are based on the evaluation of 4 pillars, with the precondition that the product has passed related safety evaluation and that the manufacturer has assured social compliance.

The first pillar of the Green Product Mark requirements is the responsible use of chemical substances. A product must be in compliance with various regulatory standards and market requirements for markets being targeted, such as SVHCs, REACH, and POPs (Persistent Organic Pollutants) in the European Union (EU) or other related regulations, which help to restrict the use of hazardous substances to protect human health and the environment.

The second pillar is waste management and the usage of recycled materials in the plush toy product. TÜV Rheinland verifies the correct usage and labeling of the recycled material content as part of the evaluation of the chain of custody system. Here, special attention is paid to post-consumer recycling and traceability for the recycled material content.

The third pillar is the requirement of a product carbon footprint. The carbon footprint is a method to measure the impact of carbon emissions of a single product over its life cycle.

The fourth pillar is social requirement compliance in accordance with different corporate social responsibility schemes such as BSCI, SMETA, RBA, ICTI, SA8000, and GRI for brand owners, manufacturers, and factory/third-party producers.
