Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) has implemented since 1st of April 2009 the Standards Import Inspection Regulations, (SIIR). The main purpose of SIIR is to control the quality of the imports.
The Regulation states that ‘no one shall import any commodity prescribed in the SIIR unless that person has applied for and has been issued with a Certificates of Compliance in respect of that commodity’.

The Ministry of Trade (MoT) of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia requires that all imported goods, under the list of Mandatory Ethiopian Standards are accompanied by a Certificate of Conformity for Custom clearance at Ethiopian ports.
