Training Tips

What is the objective of training:

One of the things which is common among successful companies is that they adopt a program of “continuous improvement”,  in other words “Good Enough – Is Never”.  The following parable demonstrates this very effectively.

The parable of the black belt

Martial artist kneeling before Master sensei to receive hard earned black belt – years of relentless training and sacrifice – finally at pinnacle of achievement in discipline.

One more test - I am ready - expecting one more round of sparring

“What is the true meaning of the black belt”?

“The end of my journey and a well deserved reward for all my hard work”

The Sensei waits for more - you are not ready for the black belt - return in one year.

Next year - “A symbol of distinction and the highest achievement in our art”

You are still not ready - return in one year.

Third year - “The black belt represents the beginning, the start of a never ending journey of discipline, work, and the pursuit of an ever higher standard”

“Yes you are now ready to receive the black belt and BEGIN YOUR WORK”.

In other words we should never stop learning.
