Sports Equipment

At present, there is no European Directive for Sporting Equipment. As such, sporting goods themselves cannot carry a CE-mark. CE-marks found on such equipment apply to their electrical/electronic components e.g. battery powered displays etc. Some equipment is wrongly recognized as sporting equipment. Depending on where the product will actually be used it may be considered Personnel Protective Equipment e.g. a protector for in-line skating.

Even though no CE-mark can currently be issued for sporting goods, safety testing for these products is still highly recommended. For most sporting goods testing is conducted against standards recognized across Europe.

TÜV Rheinland's task is to ensure these man-technic encounters meet optimum safety and quality standards and guarantee risk-free leisure-time enjoyment! And so that it's plain for everyone to see - by means of our TUV Rheinland Marks which identify technical products or systems as being "TUV-approved".
