OHSAS 18001:2007
What is OHSAS 18001:2007
The acronym of OHSAS standards means “Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series” which aim to control the potential hazards within an organisation. It encompasses several publications such as ISO 18001 and ISO 18002. Any company wishing to ensure the safety of its employees within the work environment, should implement an Occupational Health and Safety Management System within their organisations. This is of particular relevance if its activities pose special risks.
If a company has already established a Quality Management System Certification such as ISO 9001, it is of great benefit in helping to achieve the OHSAS 18001, emphasising compliance with applicable legal safety regulations.
OHSAS 18001 has been created thanks to the participation of national standards organisations, certifications organisations and specialised consultancy offices.
