Field Evaluation Services
FES – Field Evaluation Service is an approval procedure performed on site by our inspector on your product.
This inspection can be done both according to American and Canadian standards and it can be performed both at the production facility and the installation site.
Following the inspection that TÜV Rheinland UK can offer you the TÜV Rheinland of North America Field Evaluation Label or a Special Inspection Label for Canada.
The local AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) sees the label and is able to sign off on the project.
When can it be used?
- Custom-built equipment for special applications
- Equipment manufactured on a non-repetitive basis
- Equipment sold in limited quantities
- Equipment not obtainable as “Certified” under a regular certification program
- Equipment already installed and awaiting acceptance by the regulatory authority
- Complete systems or subassemblies
How Can it Be Used?
- Prior to export of the system to the USA or Canada, establish contact with TÜV Rheinland UK. In order to be able to provided you with a proposal we require the technical documentation and information of the installation location in the USA or Canada.
- We visit your production facility in order to conduct the preliminary evaluation of the machine that is ready for export. There should be sufficient time prior to dispatch for the implementation of possible modifications to the system, if needed.
- The result of the preliminary evaluation is a report on the conformity with product specific USA/Canada-standards and local requirements.
- The technical documentation and test report will then be sent to our responsible staff member in the USA or Canada.
- Following installation of the system in the USA or Canada, a simplified acceptance is effected by our local engineer. The approval of the system is effected by the local AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) and in Canada by ESA (Electrical Safety Authority)
