European Approvals
E - Mark
In Europe, there are two parallel systems for the certification of motor vehicles and their components
The "E" mark is based on ECE regulations issued by the Economic Commission for Europe, which is based in Geneva. It is an organizational part of the UN and the members are EU countries and many others. Therefore, the acceptance of approved components is much broader, especially in the eastern part of Europe. It is necessary to confirm whether a particular country has accepted (signed) the application of an ECE-regulation; as the application it is not mandatory for the countries.

German National Approvals
Some vehicles and components are not yet covered by European-wide standards, so need compliance to German national requirements in order to be used in Germany.
Our engineers are authorised by the German Approval Authority, KBA (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt) to conduct all necessary tests for German national approvals ("ABE" (Allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis) and "Teilegutachten").
Chinese Approvals
CCC Approvals
Starting from December 1, 2006, vehicle parts and components listed in the catalogue published for the China Compulsory product Certification (CCC), must obtain a certificate and CCC marking to be able to be manufactured, marketed or imported or used in other means of commercial activities.
The 13 rules include 16 types of vehicle and motorcycle parts & components involved (amended thereafter). These include lighting devices, retro reflectors, horn, seat and head restraints, fuel tank, etc.
The Certification includes Type Approval Test for the products as well as Factory Inspection to confirm the Quality Management procedures of the manufacturing unit.
With qualified engineers based in local offices in China, TÜV Rheinland Group can offer extensive support for automotive vehicle and component manufacturers with step-by-step assistance in the approval process right from the Type Approval Tests to the Factory Inspection procedure and thus facilitate the procurement of certificate.
