Functional Safety
Our graduated experts are located in the US, Germany and Japan and have more than 30 years of project experience in functional safety and in finding solutions to problems relating to assuring the safety, quality and reliability of:
- Programmable electronic safety-related systems (PLC) used in process automation (IEC 61511), industrial machinery (IEC 62061), furnaces (EN 50156) and nuclear sector (IEC 61513)

Our test, certification, inspection and expert services are used by business and government contractors worldwide. The TÜV Rheinland Functional Safety business unit has about 35 of its own qualified and experienced engineers from different technical fields and has quick access to other departments e.g. industrial machinery, EMC, power plants etc. We have at our disposal modern, well-equipped laboratories and testing facilities to provide effective and rational solutions to a wide range of safety, reliability and quality issues.
