GlobalGAP
GlobalGAP defines minimum production standards in order to achieve high quality of initial products. The standard is based on safety criteria deriving from the HACCP system. Moreover, GlobalGAP contains requirements related to the fulfillment of domestic and international legal regulations, and also criteria concerning influence of agricultural production on environment. The standard covers the whole production chain, from sowing or planting plants, through reaping produce, including handling the final product (e.g. produce storage).
The GlobalGAP standard is not mandatory, but a certificate of conformity with the standard is applied for by companies which are particular about confirmation of high quality of production issued by an independent body. And in particular those ones who supply fruit and vegetable to chains of super and hypermarkets.
