Cogeneration

The power companies selling electricity to end customers have been obliged to present certificates of origin of energy from high-efficiency cogeneration for redemption or to pay a replacement fee in the amount specified in the implementing legislation.

To obtain a certificate of origin producers of electricity through high-efficiency cogeneration need submit a relevant application to the President of the Energy Regulatory Authority through the intermediation of an energy system operator by the 14 day of the month following the end of the period of production covered by that application.

Furthermore, by February 15 of each year, the energy company submits a report on the cogeneration unit for the previous year, based on actual data, to the President of the Energy Regulatory Office. Along with the report, it is required to present an opinion by an accredited body, based on an audit in the company which will confirm the correctness of the data presented in the report and the justification for filing the application for issuing certificates of origin from cogeneration for electricity produced in the previous calendar year.
