BRC, IFS

IFS (International Food Standard) and BRC (British Retailer Consortium) are international standards related to food quality and safety for suppliers of retail chains.
The standards require that all manufacturers and participants of the food chain pay particular attention to high quality of food products and define detailed guidelines, which must be complied with by a food products manufacturer to obtain a certificate of conformity with a certain standard. The standards are regularly updated taking into account a consumer’s expectations with regard to food products. Implementation of IFS or BRC makes it necessary for a manufacturer to define proper procedures of handling and in this manner repeated product quality is guaranteed.
Compared with the HACCP food safety system popular in the international market, IFS and BRC standards are even more precise and attach great importance to maintaining the same quality level for all products.
IFS and BRC impose on food suppliers and manufacturers the necessity of fulfilling respective rules of:

  • safety,
  • legality,
  • product quality.

According to the rules it ensures clients that food products sold in retail chains are produced and delivered in compliance with the valid legal regulations and in conditions quarantining maintenance of high quality.
BRC and IFS certificates are valid for one year.
Benefits of certification of conformity with IFS and BRC standards:

  • getting proof of production of safe and high-quality products,
  • possibility of cooperation with retail chains,
  • introduction of proper procedures which guarantee constant, repeated produkt qulity,
  • growth of clients’ trust.
