TÜV Rheinland EPS specializes in the testing of wireless electrical devices, telecommunication products and medicinal products / Only accredited laboratory in the Netherlands for measuring the influence of electrical radiation on people
Cologne/Leek, 17 February 2012. TÜV Rheinland has opened a new product test centre in the Netherlands, which specialises in tests and the certification of wireless devices, electrical and electronic products, medicinal products and telecommunication products. The new laboratory is 1,000 square metres in size. 15 specialists will work there. “The new TÜV Rheinland EPS test centre is a further element of our international network of laboratories. With it we can offer our customers highly-specialised services relating to electromagnetic radiation – and we can offer people more safety,” says Dr Manfred Doerges, Chief Regional Officer Western Europe at TÜV Rheinland. The new test centre is the only accredited laboratory in the Netherlands that measures the influence of electrical radiation on people.
Since as early as 1988, TÜV Rheinland EPS has supported manufacturers, suppliers, importers and authorities in testing products in the aspects of functionality, security and environmental friendliness. The tests include electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), type testing and -approval as well as product certification.
Henk-Jan Pieters, Managing Director of TÜV Rheinland EPS, says: “We now have new, accessible, state-of-the-art, shielded test chambers in order to test EMC and telecommunication devices. Thus we can carry out quality measurements more quickly and at a higher quality in technical terms. Thus we are reacting to growing customer requirements in an ideal fashion. These entail that we carry out safety tests so that we can offer the consumer safe, wireless products.” The devices tested at TÜV Rheinland EPS are medicinal products, electronic ancillary equipment and wireless products with WLAN, but also newer technologies (e.g. ZigBee). ZigBee is a wireless network standard whose functions include allowing devices – e.g. in the household - to be connected to sensors at distances of up to a hundred metres.
The new laboratory is located in the Frisian village of Leek, near Groningen. As one of the leading global technical test service providers for quality and safety, TÜV Rheinland has established various competence centres in the Netherlands. The independent test service provider has approximately 200 employees in the Netherlands in the areas of product testing, passive vehicle safety, in the certification of management systems as well as non-destructive testing of industrial plants especially for the oil and gas industry. In the Netherlands, TÜV Rheinland operates further locations and test centres in places such as Apeldoorn, Enschede and Helmond.
