TÜV Rheinland has acquired the majority in French-based Société Européenne de Controle Technique Automobile (Secta Autosur). Secta Autosur, a company founded in 1990, is a licensor for over 800 technical vehicle test centres across France. It employs approximately 1,600 staff.
Dr Manfred Bayerlein, Chief Executive Officer of TÜV Rheinland AG maintains: “The technical safety of vehicles as a key driver for traffic safety has gained a high standing over the last two decades. As a result of expanding our stake in Secta Autosur, we have expanded our testing operations in one of Europe’s most important automobile markets.”
Dr. Thomas Aubel, Executive Vice President Mobility at TÜV Rheinland, stated: “Every year, TÜV Rheinland carries out some 5.5 million main inspections on vehicles, not only in various European countries, but also in Argentina and Chile. In France, TÜV Rheinland has operated in vehicle testing for over 20 years.” Today the 140 employees of the neutral test service providers implement around 250,000 vehicle tests a year at the 34 service stations of its subsidiary TUV DCTA.
