TÜV Rheinland acquires Rail Safety Consulting

TÜV Rheinland Rail Sciences, a subsidiary of TÜV Rheinland in North America, has acquired Rail Safety Consulting (RSC), a company specializing in addressing the safety needs and regulations affecting modern electronic-based train control and signal systems. TÜV Rheinland expands the scope of his services in signaling and safety consulting, particularly in Positive Train Control (PTC) and Communications-Based Train Control.

TÜV Rheinland Rail Sciences is one of the rail industry's premier consulting firms specializing in the application of highly analytical skills to rail issues.

RSC contains the largest body of recognized experts averaging more than 20 years of experience in the field of rail transportation safety in North America. They have experience with all facets of assuring safety, from basic safety analysis to defining and managing entire system safety programs, with particular expertise in processor-based products and systems. The RSC system safety engineers have been active contributors to the Federal Railroad Administration Railroad Safety Advisory Committee Working Group for PTC since 1997.

Since 1987 TÜV Rheinland Rail Sciences has been providing specialized consulting, testing, engineering and training services in the areas of derailment investigations, track/train dynamics, system and operational safety, operations planning and analysis, testing and instrumentation (laboratory and field) as well as applied mechanical and materials engineering services. The latter include failure analysis and root cause investigation; materials and component testing; data acquisition and analysis; finite element modeling; and litigation support and expert witness services. TUV RSI also provides immediate, on-site engineering support.
