TUV Rheinland Japan now offers Energy Efficiency Testing for Californian Requirements
Japan, USA - The Californian Energy Commission has listed TUV Rheinland´s laboratory in Yokohama as an approved testing laboratory under California's Appliance Efficiency Program. The scope of this approval includes the testing of Energy Efficiency for Battery Charger Systems, Consumer Audio / Video Products and Power Supplies.
California's Appliance Efficiency Program requires consumer products such as power supplies, air-conditioning systems, washing machines and lamps to comply with certain levels of Energy Efficiency Regulations. The standards within these regulations apply to appliances that
are sold in California, except those that are sold wholesale in California for final retail sales outside of the state and those designed and sold exclusively for use in recreational vehicles or other mobile equipment.
On the 8th of April 2010, TUV Rheinland Japan became the only certification body in Japan that tests and issues reports for battery charger systems under this scheme.
Since requirements for energy efficiency of external power supplies in other countries overlap with requirements in California, TUV Rheinland Japan also offers combined testing services . This way the manufacturer can save costs and take advantage of a shorter lead time for compliance testing of multiple schemes, such as Europe´s Ecodesign Directive or Australian Requirements on Energy Efficiency for external power supplies.
With this step TUV Rheinland Japan strengthens its’ market position as a European Certification body in Japan and offers a bigger variety of green market access services and ensures the compliance of products towards ecological requirements as a trusted third party.
