Homologation

Safety - The Measure of All Things Worldwide
Safety has priority worldwide. Numerous norms apply to vehicles, systems, and components - no matter whether it has to do with the Federal Motor Safety Standards (StVZO) in Germany or the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards in America.

Automobile manufacturers, suppliers, institutions and government agencies come in contact with these regulations with the conception of new products. Specialists from the TÜV can help. They provide consulting services which are tailored to a specific problem and its solution and offer technical advice on how to comply with existing motor vehicle regulations.

For the international sales of motor vehicles and their components, approvals according to the standards of the destination countries are essential.

Our experts in Malaysia and Asia network assist you efficiently in obtaining these approvals and provide their expertise concerning the homologation (= type approval) tests and all relevant administrative matters. This includes information about the interpretation and future development of homologation standards also of non-European countries.

It will be our pleasure to explain these complex systems and their correlation with each other as well as to advise you on the most suitable approval route for your product.

The European Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) replacing the individual national type approvals of the EU (European Union) member states is an efficient, economic and convenient system.

Vehicles and electrical/electronic components, including those for aftermarket installation, are subject to the Automotive EMC Directive; compliance is indicated by the "e mark".

There are vehicles which are not categorized as passenger cars or trucks such as construction machinery and agricultural machinery. They need a national approval and we can assist you in this area too.

"E" Mark

In Europe, there are two pararell systems for the certification of motor vehicles and their components

The "E" mark is based on ECE regulations issued by the Economic Commission for Europe, which is based in Geneva. It is an organizational part of the UN and the members are EU countries and many others. Therefore, the acceptance of approved components is much broader, especially in the eastern part of Europe. It is necessary to confirm whether a particular country has accepted (signed) the application of an ECE-regulation; as the application it is not mandatory for the countries.
