Climate Change - Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)
The Kyoto Protocol (1997) provides opportunities of complying with the accepted compromise, among them the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). This mechanism permits the commercialisation of emission reductions which have been realized in non-industrialized countries (non-annex 1).
TÜV Rheinland of Japan Ltd. (part of TÜV Rheinland Group) has been accredited as Designated Operational Entity (DOE) by the UNFCCC and takes over the independent third party evaluation of CDM-Projects.

Validation, Verification and Certification Services
Validation
The verification by a third party is the first step to implement a CDM project and is normally scheduled prior to starting the project.

- Review of established practices and accuracy of gathered data, including the monitoring team
- Review of the management system supporting the reduction of emissions
