TÜV Rheinland Japan opened a new Photovoltaic Laboratory in Tsuzuki-Ward, Yokohama in 2009. This laboratory is a contribution to meeting the world's rapidly increasing demand for solar power generation.

Since 2007, TÜV Rheinland has offered a wide range of photovoltaic module evaluation services at the PV lab and outdoor PV facility in GTAC (the Global Technology Assessment Center). While crystalline modules were the main focus of our service, this new facility can provide evaluations of the Thin Film Modules that have recently received much attention. What should be noted is that, with the opening of the new facility, our testing capacity is tripled. As well as conventional testing capabilities, we now offer a comprehensive Photovoltaic Evaluation Service, from modules to components and systems.
