REACH

The New European Chemicals Policy : REACH

The European Parliament’s REACH (Registration Evaluation Authorization of Chemicals) proposal envisions makes industrial enterprises responsible for testing their chemical substances for possible hazards to consumers and the environment. In accordance with the “no data, no market” principle, substances will only be permitted to be placed in circulation if sufficient data is available. The sufficient data depends on the volume of production that higher volume indicates more data to be provided. This assures that it releases no hazardous substances to any alarming extent. Dealers in the EU and importers of goods manufactured outside the EU are responsible to observe this regulations.

Companies will proceed to registration or preregistration in five stages.

Stage 1: Data Capture
Stage 2: Data Analysis
Stage 3: Cost Analysis
Stage 4: Cost Reduction
Stage 5: Preparation for (Pre)Registration
