How the System Works

Functionality:

The PCAS has been designed to provide maximum features while ensuring that the system's usability is simple and efficient.

STEP 1: User generates codes

The on-demand codes can be generated at any time by defined users. Brand owners can assign codes to suppliers thereby disabling the generation of excess codes.

The code itself is a unique 13-digit alphanumerical code which provides you with a range of manufacturing information. When the system is fully integrated into your production line, the code can be associated to details such as production date, product, batch, lot number etc. Should you choose to continue using your internal code, the flexibility of the PCAS ensures that these two numbers can be associated.

STEP 2: Code is placed on the product

The code is placed on the product during the manufacturing process by whichever means the customer chooses. The number generated by the PCAS can be utilized on a variety of labeling methods, including both covert and overt, as well as transformed into, amongst other things, QR codes and barcodes. The TUV Rheinland Group works with a range of partners which ensures that any of your labeling needs can be provided.

STEP 3: Uploading of information

As the code, which has since been placed on the product, is moved through the production line, relevant information is fed back into the system. Whether this is done manually or automatically is up to the discretion of the brand owner or supplier. The product is ready for distribution.

STEP 4: Distribution

As the product moves through the distribution channel, it is verified at certain checkpoints. These checkpoints may include such locations as customs, warehouse etc. At each of these points the information is relayed back to the system generating a trail and enabling the brand owner to track and trace the products. Should the products be stolen and verified elsewhere, either during the distribution or by the end-user who is unaware of the theft, brand owners can see the exact location of the product.

STEP 5: End-user verification

Once in store the user can verify the validity of the product. This ensures that all products being sold are genuine and that faked goods haven’t been mixed into the stock. Authentication is available through a variety of means including SMS, scanning QR codes or entering the number into the website.
