European approval of Gas appliance products

The European Union has published a series of New Approach Directives among them Gas Appliances one which are mandatory on all member states to enact through national legislation. The main objective of the concept of New Approach is to simplify the movements of products into and within the European Union.
The manufacturer in the meaning of New Approach is the person who is responsible for designing and manufacturing of a product with a view to placing it on the Community market on his own behalf.

The manufacturer has an obligation to ensure that a product intended to be placed on the community market is designed and manufactured and it’s conformity assessed, to the essential requirements in accordance with the provision of the applicable New Approach Directives.
In the context of New Approach the meaning of CE is to indicate to the officials concerned that the product may be legally offered for sale in countries indicated both in the EC type examination certificate and on the data plate as well.
