MEEI experts are ready to offer their many years of testing experience, state-of-the-art measuring instruments and other facilities within the competency area of the Institute to deal with applications coming from the different branches of industry, trade and servicing.

EMC

MEEI has been engaged in carrying out EMC measurements for a long time, and, having the experiences of over 5000 EMC tests, is ready to offer the following services:

Performance of EMC tests
- Emission tests: measurement of conducted and radiated radio-frequency disturbances, distortion of current taken from the mains supply (harmonic current emission), voltage fluctuations and flicker caused by the appliances tested.
- Immunity tests: test of immunity to conducted and radiated radio-frequency disturbances, mains frequency- and impulse-type magnetic fields, electrostatic discharges, fast transients (burst), voltage and current surges, voltage dips, voltage interruptions, variations and dips.
Conformity certification to the EMC Directive, and granting licence to use the pan-European EMC mark
Advisory activity in order to reduce the disturbance emission of a product below the allowed limit, or to achieve adequate immunity of the product.
Laboratory for rent to carry out product development measurements quickly and economically.

MEEI offers EMC services in accordance with the international requirements for the great majority of products to be tested. While doing so, he pays special attention to the demands of the manufacturers and keeps up in development with the changes of applicable standards and other requirements.

Acoustic noise emission tests

MEEI as a designated testing laboratory, is ready to check the availability of the noise level data, and verify it with measurements. Should it be missing, MEEI carries out the measurement and determines the noise level value.

Our services in the field of acoustics and electro acoustics

To verify that the CE marking has been duly affixed to the product, we carry out acoustic noise level determination of electrical products to EN and ISO standards in a measuring room ensuring "semi-outdoor conditions".

The measurement is performed by a two-channel variable band-width signal analizator, so it is possible to make analizations. By this way, the main noise producing parts within a given appliance can be determined.

On request, we are ready to co-operate in experiments and development aimed at reduction of the noise.

We undertake to perform on-site noise measurements on industrial equipment by means of noise measuring instrument.

We undertake in the field of electro acoustic:

Noise pressure and directional characteristics measurements on horns, on equipment for property protection and other rodent scaring appliances.
Checking of loudspeaker systems (discos, communal PA systems) in respect of safety to life and property, advising on the design for compliance with the requirements.
Determination of quality properties of loudspeakers, and loudspeaker systems (e.g. frequency, impedance and directional characteristics, distortions).
Test of consumer electronics and professional equipment (e.g. amplifiers, mixers, recorders) in respect of quality, safety to life and property.

We undertake to carry out full tests to the standard EN 60065. On request, we are ready to be of assistance in elimination of the defects found.

Besides the confirmation of grounded affixing of the CE marking and periodic checking of conformity in respect of safety, we also offer the following services within the framework of the IECEE-CB, CCA- and ENEC systems:

Type tests to standard of:

luminaires (e.g. fixed, recessed, road, photo, lighting chains, emergency lighting)
components for lighting (e.g. ballasts and starters for fluorescent lamps, electronic starters, electronic voltage reduction converters)
track systems for lighting, projectors, high voltage insect killers with incandescent or fluorescent lamps as light sources.

Our laboratory for lighting is equipped to carry out:

safety and performance testing of light sources (e.g. incandescent lamps, infrared lamps, low-voltage halogen lamps, projecting lamps, fluorescent lamps, mercury and sodium lamps)
testing of light signalling devices of road vehicles (e.g. head- and tail lamps, reflex reflecting devices, devices for illumination of registration plates, front- and end position (side) lamps, stop lamps, advance-warning triangles, vehicle lamps, special warning lamps), in connection with granting the international "E" mark.
testing of light and colour characteristics of road signalling devices and road accessories, transparent and reflecting signal surfaces, rod signs, railway signal lamps, railway light barriers, road signal lamps,
measurement of main optical quantities, luminous flux, illumination, luminous intensity, luminance,
calorimetric measurements of coloured, transparent or reflecting surfaces - determining the colour coordinates - using any kind of light sources
measurement of light distribution of luminaries for incandescent and fluorescent lamps, in any planes and in any (degree) step.

We provide technical assistance and carry out expertise tests in the field of lighting.

Laboratory measurements

Endurance tests, energy consumption measurements, safety checking of industrial machines and appliances for commercial kitchens, brake-bench measurements of motors, periodic supervision of welding machines, quality tests.
