GS Approval For Toys
GS stands for “Geprüfte Sicherheit”, which means “approved safety” in German. The GS Mark signals that the product has been checked for operational safety both in a laboratory and in the production factory by a trustworthy, independent institute. The GS Mark is a strong marketing tool: compared to products with the CE Mark only, those that also have the GS Mark strengthen buyer confidence.
TÜV Rheinland Proof – Certified Quality Toy
The awarding of the test mark is based on a test application and the conclusion of a contract on labelling use. Approval for bearing the test mark is issued for one year and is extended in the event of a positive follow-up by one additional year in each case.
Advantages:
- Toy manufacturers have the opportunity to make products that stand out against the large number of CE-labelled toys
- Your trading partners can view the certificate information through the TUVdotCOM website (www. tuv.com)
- An advertising effect is obtained by labeling the toys, the packaging and/or the catalogue.
Are Your Sure That Your Toys Fulfil All Requirements?
Toys may need to fulfil multiple requirements. Take a battery operated pile rabbit as example. The requirements are
- EN 71, EN 62115 and EMC testing, which are required for all European countries,
- Banned Azo dye test for textiles and leather according to 2002/61/EC, and
- Total cadmium content according to the requirement of the Netherlands or 91/338/EEC.
Please consult the experts at TÜV Rheinland to clarify all necessary requirements. Our duty is to help you do business safely.
