Our Services for ZigBee Certification

TÜV Rheinland provides ZigBee Compliant Platform (ZCP), ZigBee Application Profile and RF4CE related tests and is approved by the ZigBee Alliance to submit the results for certification. The ZCP is a combination of an IEEE 802.15.4 compliant transceiver and an embedded microcontroller, running the ZigBee protocol stack up to the Application Layer. The ZCP forms the basis of implementing ZigBee technology in proprietary and open ZigBee enabled end products. Each new combination of transceiver, microcontroller and stack requires a separate ZCP certification by the ZigBee Alliance. Platform level certification ensures interoperability of ZigBee devices in a multi-vendor network. There is also a multitude of public application profiles which form the basis for ZigBee End Products. Key application profiles are ZigBee Smart Energy, ZigBee Home Automation, ZigBee Remote Control and many others.

Approach

TÜV Rheinland’s ZigBee certification approach is as follows:

  • Submission of documents and application
  • Submission of product for preliminary assessment and testing, according to Zigbee Alliance test plan
  • Final certification test run
  • Issuance of test report and submittal to ZigBee Alliance
