GS Mark
Giving your Customers Peace of Mind
As consumer concerns for product safety continue to linger, manufacturers will seek a GS Mark to definitively prove their products have been tested and confirmed for safety by a third party. The GS Mark proves that an independent accredited third party has evaluated, tested and certified the product for electrical safety. The GS Mark can reap long-term benefits to product manufacturers because of the mark’s high consumer recognition and credibility in Germany. In German, GS stands for “Geprüfte Sicherheit”, which in English stands for “safety-tested”. Within this definition lies the major draw of the GS Mark to a wide range of stakeholders throughout Western Europe. For manufacturers, dealers and importers alike, a GS Mark, which stands for safety, can be the most important purchase influencer on the market today

Our Services for the GS Mark
We test many product attributes including but not limited to, electrical safety, ergonomic correctness, and chemical hazards from polymeric materials, electromagnetic compatibility and noise emissions. To keep the GS mark, the law also demands frequent checks to ensure the manufacturer has maintained a continuous control on production. The GS Mark requires a higher level of testing that exceeds the basic requirements for the CE Marking. The additional measures taken to ensure safe operations has shown that products with the GS Mark tend to never make the list of “dangerous goods.” As an appointed testing institute, we check whether your product fulfills the requirements laid out by the prototype directive.
The Long Term Value of the GS Mark
Introduced in 1977, the GS Mark was created to meet the demands of labor organizations, insurers and consumer protection organizations in Germany. It verifies that technical work equipment and consumer products comply with all statutory safety and health requirements of the (German) Product Safety Act (ProdSG). Although the GS Mark was originated in Germany, it is in fact a mark that is accepted in multiple Western European countries. In the past decade, members of the European Union have become accustomed to seeing the mark on consumer products, and now this mark continues to appear on a large number of electronic products and machinery sold elsewhere in the world.
