Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) Certifications - FSR/TSR
Stay Secure with TAPA’s Freight Security Requirements Standards
Security is of paramount importance today, especially for manufacturers of high value, high risk products and their logistics service providers. Transporting of high tech products has become a challenge worldwide due to cargo theft, increasing security risks as well as costs. TAPA aims to standardize transportation security services and encourage regulatory adoption of their recommendations. TÜV Rheinland is certified by TAPA in North America and Europe to help you meet TAPA’s requirements. TÜV Rheinland is capable of performing TAPA audits to check compliance with Truck Security Requirements (TSR) and Freight Security Requirements (FSR). Each standard has three classes of security levels. Following a successful TAPA audit, TÜV Rheinland is able to award TAPA certification to document the security standards of production, storage, and transportation facilities, with subsequent inspections occurring every three years.

Our Services for TAPA Certification
TÜV Rheinland provides TAPA certification as a part of its transporatation security services. TAPA audits are based on two sets of standards: Freight Security Requirements (FSR) and Truck Security Requirements (TSR). FSR can be achieved at one of three levels: class A, B, and C, with class A being the highest level of security; monitoring the level of security for facilities and warehouses used for storing and transporting goods. TAPA audits are conducted using a checklist style audit. Facilities are monitored and score points based on their level of security. Audits typically include a one or two day inspection of the facility against TAPA's standards and repeat inspections are conducted at regular intervals over a three year period.
TAPA’s goal is to:
- Establish best known security practices in freight transportation and influence their adoption by regulatory bodies
- Promote compliance with identified best practices
- Identify the latest technology for protecting assets
